Through alkali and enzyme treatment, the protein components in the leather chips were separated from chromium, and the gelatin products with light color and high purity as well as the trivalent chromium salt were extracted. Gelatin can be used as the raw material of harmless and efficient biological fertilizer, animal feed, industrial glue, amino acid and other fine chemicals, trivalent chromium salt can be used as the raw material of leather tanning agent and ceramic pigment.
Gelatin can be used for amino acylation by maleic anhydride, followed by tertiary amination by aldol amine condensation compound to make cationic protein filler, anionic protein filler is made by copolymerization of acrylic acid or other vinyl monomers with acylated gelatin, and used as retanning filler for leather.
